Visit to Gorée Island
Our visit to Gorée Island was truly unforgettable. The House of Slaves museum offered a powerful glimpse into the past, and walking through the same spaces where so many of our ancestors were held was both humbling and emotional. This deeply moving destination stands as a testament to the resilience and spirit of our people who faced the devastations of the Atlantic slave trade. As African Americans, standing on the same land where our ancestors once walked was a profoundly emotional experience—one that connected us to our history in a way that words cannot capture. Together, we honored their legacy and reflected on the powerful lessons this historic island offers.
