Experience three distinctly different sides of Kenya as we journey through the city, the savanna, and the coast.
We’ll begin in Nairobi, experiencing the culture and energy of Kenya’s vibrant capital, before heading to the breathtaking Maasai Mara for safari, wildlife, and cultural connection. From there, we’ll trade the savanna for the sea in Diani Beach, where the beauty of the Indian Ocean and Kenya’s Swahili Coast offer the perfect blend of culture, exploration, and relaxation.
Our journey concludes back in Nairobi before we say farewell to Kenya and head home.

Touch down in Nairobi, one of Africa’s most dynamic capital cities and the starting point of an unforgettable journey through Kenya.
Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed at the airport and transferred to our Nairobi hotel. After check in, take some time to unpack, refresh, and settle into your new surroundings after the long journey.

Over the next few days, we’ll experience the city through its people, culture, food, art, history, and everyday life, giving us our first opportunity to begin discovering what makes Kenya so special.

Our time in Nairobi will be a mix of cultural experiences, local exploration, great food, and opportunities to connect with the city and its people.
We’ll explore some of Nairobi’s most interesting places, experience local markets and communities, and venture beyond the city to see another side of the surrounding region.
The exact experiences are still being curated, but our goal is simple: experience Nairobi beyond the typical tourist lens and get a true taste of Kenya.

Welcome to the Maasai Mara, where sweeping grasslands, incredible wildlife, and the traditions of the Maasai people create one of the most unforgettable chapters of our journey.

We’ll venture into the Maasai Mara National Reserve with experienced guides for safari experiences across its vast open landscapes.
Along the way, we’ll take in the scenery and search for the incredible wildlife that calls the Mara home. And that’s part of what makes a true safari so exciting: no two experiences are ever exactly the same.
There will also be time to slow down and simply appreciate where we are, surrounded by open skies, beautiful landscapes, nature, and the peaceful rhythm of the Mara.

After our time in the Maasai Mara, we’ll trade the open savanna for white sand and turquoise waters as we fly to Kenya’s beautiful coast. ✈️🌴
Your in country flight from the Maasai Mara to Kenya’s coast is included in your trip cost, allowing us to spend less time traveling and more time experiencing another incredible side of Kenya.
Welcome to Diani Beach, where the warm waters of the Indian Ocean and laid back rhythm of the Swahili Coast offer the perfect change of pace.

After the energy of Nairobi and our safari adventures, we’ve intentionally built time into our journey to slow down, relax, and enjoy the beauty of Kenya’s coast.

After several days enjoying Kenya’s beautiful coast, it’s time to make our way back to where our journey began: Nairobi.
We’ll travel from Diani to Mombasa, where we’ll board Kenya’s SGR for a Premium Class rail journey back to Nairobi. Your Premium Class SGR journey is included in your trip cost. 🚆✨
Along the way, sit back, relax, and take in more of Kenya’s changing landscapes as we enjoy one final journey across the country together.
🥂 Our Final Night Together
Once back in Nairobi, we’ll settle in for our final night in Kenya and come together for a farewell dinner celebrating the experiences we’ve shared, the connections we’ve made, and the memories we’re taking home.
It’s the perfect opportunity to reflect on our journey from Nairobi to the Maasai Mara and Kenya’s beautiful coast before saying farewell.

Should I purchase travel insurance?
Absolutely! We would highly recommend you purchase Travel Protection to help protect yourself and your trip investment. Life can be unpredictable. Even the best-planned trips can be impacted by the unexpected. Travel insurance can help with medical coverage for illness or injury, trip cancellation and/or interruption, baggage loss, medical evacuation, and more.
Although we do not endorse a particular insurance company, we will provide a list of companies and descriptions of travel benefits at the time of booking.
Is there a payment plan?
Yes! See our trip Payment Options page, found here, for more details.
Is there a refund policy?
Yes! Our refund policy is based on the timing of cancellation relative to the trip’s start date. Pre-paid trip payments made to Afro Discoveries are non-refundable on or after 60 days of the trip start date. However, you may transfer your reservation to another traveler, provided Afro Discoveries is notified by September 1 of the year in which the trip departs. The transfer request must be approved by Afro Discoveries and will be subject to a transfer fee of $300.
Cancellations made:
- 100+ days before the trip receive a 90% refund.
- 75–99 days before the trip receive a 50% refund.
- 61–74 days before the trip receive a 25% refund.
All refunds are minus a $200 non-refundable cancellation fee per person. No refunds are issued for cancellations within 60 days of the trip.
The purchase of travel insurance is recommended.
Do I need special vaccinations?
We recommend that travelers be up-to-date on routine vaccinations and consult their healthcare provider or a travel health clinic at least 6 weeks before departure regarding any recommended immunizations or medications based on their personal health needs and our final itinerary.
